Creative ways to increase productivity using the This 'r Nothing technique:

 

 

  • Studying: Choose the subject you need to study for, set a This 'r Nothing cycle, and study or do NOTHING!

 

  • Writing letters/Memos: That letter that you were dreading writing can get done now! Set a This 'r Nothing cycle for letter writing and don’t leave that chair until it is done!

 

  • Meetings: Those long, unfocused, unproductive meetings are about to become extinct. Set a This 'r Nothing cycle and focus solely on agenda items. Welcome to the world of productive meetings.

 

  • Fumbling with your iPhone during meetings: With this app, you will no longer fumble with your iPhone during meetings (avoiding the unspoken rage of others). Set a This 'r Nothing cycle for the meeting time and commit yourself not to touch your phone until the meeting is over. You will focus on the meeting ‘r Nothing! You colleagues will appreciate the new you.

 

  • Meditate: Sometimes we a need a break. A 5-15 minutes mediation can help us relax, recharge, and be aware of our breathing. Set a This 'r Nothing cycle and breathe in and breathe out.

 

  • Meals with friends: How many times have you gone out with friends and noticed that all of you are distracted by your phones and not enjoying each other’s company? The number of people who attend to their phone instead of engaging in meaningful conversations with friends during a meal has reached epidemic proportions! Set a This 'r Nothing cycle for 45-60 minutes and forget about your phone. When the cycle is over, excuse yourself and take a trip to the restroom (you can then go crazy with texting and email checking).   • Going out on a romantic date: If it is a blind date and you hate the card you have been dealt, forget about This 'r Nothing. However, if you care about the person in front of you, follow the instructions above (Meals with friends).

 

  • Subway trips: Gone were the days when there was no cell phone signal or wireless internet access in the subway. If you would like productive subway trips, choose an activity, for instance, reading a book on Kindle, and This 'r Nothing it.

 

  • Practicing an instrument: When you can’t get those notes right it is very easy to feel discouraged and give up. Before you begin your daily practice, set a This 'r Nothing cycle and, well, practice or nothing…

 

  • Having some fun: We all need time to relax and recharge. Set a This 'r Nothing cycle for 20-45 minutes and do only enjoyable things. No work allowed!

 

  • Decluttering: The “organization fairy” advises you to set aside one hour once in a while to organize your room, kitchen, office, or any location that deserves some tidying up.   • Answering emails: Answering emails can be dreadful, keep you from focusing on the important stuff, and eat up your time. This 'r Nothing your emails. Set two cycles a day and limit your urge to answer emails to these cycles. 

 

  • Playing with your children: Don't let emails and social media spoil quality fun time between you and your children. Time to play is time to play. Set a This 'r Nothing cycle and during that period play like a child.

 

  • Exercise: Getting the motivation to exercise and dedicate yourself to a healthy lifestyle is difficult for many people. This ‘r Nothing your exercise routines. Even exercising for as little as 5 minutes a day can provide health benefits, promote healthy weight loss, and add years to your life.
